Bandcamp Friday Picks [October 2024]

In a foreshadowing of things to come, this month's Bandcamp Friday is sponsored by Roland, the manufacturer of both the 808 drum machine and the Boss HM-2 pedal. Let us take a moment to praise our new corporate overlords, and beg for their indulgence in continuing to have a day in which independent labels and artists receive all the proceeds from sales on this platform. Here are some releases that had me high-fiving the free market's busy invisible hand.

Bandcamp Fridays are back after a two month hiatus, so here are some recent releases that you should support with some $$$. The platform is waiving its fees for all purchases made today, so there's no better time to hand some independant artists and labels your cash.

Bandcamp Friday Picks [May 2023]

Since today will be the last Bandcamp Friday until August, try to help out some independent artists by buying either an album or some merch. Here are some recent releases that are eroding my already compromised hearing.

Bandcamp Fridays keep rolling, so here are some recent releases that you should support with some $$$. an interview with Cinis

Everyone knows DoC loves Polish death metal. So I was thrilled to discover Cinis, who make the typical thrashy Polish style their own with a progressive and technical twist. The band's third album Lies That Comfort Me came out in September of 2022 through Selfmadegod Records. Drummer Konrad Zubrzycki took the time to answer my questions, and guitarist/engineer Lukasz chimed in to discuss recording the album. [Thanks to David Brenner from Earsplit PR for coordinating this Q+A.]

an interview with Sickrecy

Swedish grind trio Sickrecy recently released their debut full-length Salvation Through Tyranny through Selfmadegod and Bullwhip Records. It's everything you'd want from a grindcore album: Unrelenting and to the point, with a cynical eye cast towards the state of the world. Drummer/bassist Martin Eriksson was kind enough to answer my questions.

an interview with Dira Mortis

Readers of this blog know that I love me some Polish death metal. Dira Mortis fit that description - but unlike the hyperblasting style associated with their country, their use of doom and groove is more akin to the classic Florida sound. Founder/guitarist Leszek Makowiecki was kind enough to answer my questions about the history of Dira Mortis and their recently released third album, Ancient Breath of Forgotten Misanthropy.
