Philly's Castle Freak are as influenced by Eighties B-movies as they are by the metal of the same era. Their punky death grind style hearkens back to the pioneering albums of Autopsy and Repulsion, as well as recent adherents to the style like Noisem.

I spoke with guitarist/vocalist Andrew Gigan about the origins of Castle Freak, his songwriting process, and how Sebastian Philips and Ben Aft of Noisem came to join his band. We also talked about how the current Covid-19 pandemic affected the release of the band's first full-length, Savage Nights of the Castle Freak.

My thanks to Andrew for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
