Aidan Baker is a prominent figure within the world of experimental/ambient music, and his band Nadja is one of the most recognizable proponents of drone metal. Since Nadja was one of my entry points into drone, I reached out to Aidan to see if he was interested in being interviewed for this podcast.
I spoke to Aidan about his musical background, the origins of Nadja, a few of his collaborations with other musicians, and his record label Broken Spine Productions. I also asked him how about how he achieves Nadja's ridiculously burnt guitar tone.
My thanks to Aidan for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
