Mixtape 60 - Darsombra (Part 1)

Here is the 60th installment of the Dreams of Consciousness podcast, featuring part one of an interview with Brian Daniloski and Ann Everton of Darsombra.
I've been watching Brian Daniloski perform since the turn of the millennium. His previous band Meatjack played CBGBs regularly, and shared the stage with the likes of Grief and Today is the Day while representing the most forward thinking edge of heavy music. I've kept up with Brian and his music throughout the years, and got to see his latest project Darsombra a couple of times.

So it was a big deal to me when Darsombra announced their South East Asian tour, as it was one of the few times that someone from my past life has come through Malaysia. Unfortunately, the first part of their tour coincided with my own travels, and I missed their gig in KL., but due to the extensive nature of their Malaysia tour, I was able to catch them when they played Johor Bahru.

In part one of my interview with Darsombra, we talk about how Brian and Ann ended up in South East Asia, the history of Darsombra, the tricky task of categorizing their music, and the role that video plays in their live performances.

UPDATE: Check out part two of this interview HERE.
