Here is the 70th installment of the Dreams of Consciousness podcast, featuring an interview with Bryan Tabuteau, founder and curator of the Noise.Drone.Repeat experimental music series in Wellington, New Zealand.
My second trip to New Zealand was filled with new musical discoveries. Though I was in Wellington for a different music fest, my visit coincided with a Noise.Drone.Repeat night- part of an event series at the Wellington venue Valhalla that focuses on New Zealand's experimental music scene. Since drone and ambient/experimental music are becoming a growing part of my music diet (and this blog), I asked Noise.Drone.Repeat organizer Bryan Tabuteau if I could interview him for the podcast.
We discussed how the Noise.Drone.Repeat series came about, the nature of the experimental music scene in New Zealand, and Bryan's own noise project UZB96. I also shared my experiences from my first day in Wellington - a city that seemingly embraces artists and outsiders, no matter how unorthodox they might be.
My thanks again to Bryan for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
