Based in the English city of Bath, Sergeant Thunderhoof separate themselves from the stoner and retro metal pack by crafting songs with a psychedelic and progressive mindset. From their offbeat name to the thematic underpinnings of their albums, the band take a thoughtful approach to creating music that's slow and heavy.
I spoke with frontman Dan Flitcroft about the band's approach to songwriting, how their new split with Howling Giant came about, and the animated video created for their contribution. We also discussed self-releasing music in the streaming age, and his philosophy on "name your price" downloads.
My thanks to Dan for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
