A power trio with alumni from The Berklee College of Music, Nashville's Howling Giant take a conceptual approach to writing heavy psych rock. But their music - filled with fuzz and science fiction references - is never so cerebral that it stops being fun.
Following up last week's interview with Sergeant Thunderhoof, I spoke with the members of Howling Giant (drummer/vocalist Zach Wheeler, bassist/vocalist Sebastian "Sea Bass" Baltes, and guitarist/vocalist Tom Polzin) about their half of the Masamune/Muramasa split album, and their predilection for grandiose concept albums. We also discussed the role Dungeons & Dragons plays in the world of Howling Giant.
My thanks to the members in Howling Giant for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
