My history with All Out War goes back to the fall of 1997, when I saw the band performing at a Sunday matinee at CBGB's. They were one of the first bands I ever saw in New York, and one of the first I ever saw on that stage. I purchased their first album Truth In The Age Of Lies soon after and have been a fan ever since. Their style owed as much to German thrash as it did New York Hardcore, and was one of the earliest examples of what became known as "metalcore".
I spoke to Mike over Facebook Messenger. We discussed All Out War's history, their place in the hardcore and metal scenes, and their upcoming album Crawl Among The Filth. Mike also walked me through the creation of their second album, For Those Who Were Crucified, which is one of a hundred albums I feel lucky to have heard.
