Necrofier mix the dark melodies of early Swedish black metal with the fist-pumping fervour of classic heavy metal. As a result, their songs are both grandiose and raucous, distinguishing these Texans from the rest of the USBM scene.
I spoke with vocalist/guitarist Christian Bakka Larson about his love for classic heavy metal, and how the "everything is bigger in Texas" mentality is reflected in Necrofier's sound. We also spoke about how the band came to record their latest album Burning Shadows in the Southern Night with Grammy-nominated producer Joel Hamilton, and what led Christian to found the Hell's Heroes Festival.
My thanks again to Christian for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
