As a hesher who discovered hardcore in the mid-Nineties, I've always had a soft spot for All Out War. They were one of the first bands I saw at CBGB's, and their mix of classic thrash, death metal, and New York Hardcore represented a thawing of relations between longhairs and hardcore kids, presaging the "metalcore" era that was on the horizon.
I spoke with vocalist Mike Score about what the band had been up to since the last time he was on the podcast, and how Covid lockdowns changed the way they write songs. We also discussed how the latest All Out War album Celestial Rot ended up being their shortest, and why they decided to record the album themselves.
My thanks again to Mike for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
