Aarktica is the brainchild and decades-long endeavor of Jon DeRosa (who also provides vocals for the ethereal darkwave band Black Tape For A Blue Girl). From its origins in the Nineties ambient and experimental scene, Aarktica has broadened its scope to integrate folk, classical, and post rock.
I spoke with Jon about branching out from the ambient genre, and how an interest in big band music carried over into Aarktica. We also discussed why removing preconceived ideas and limitations helped him write songs, and producer Lewis Pesacov's input on his latest release, We Will Find the Light.
My thanks again to Jon for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
