A perfect soundtrack for this plague-beset winter, Swedish trio Gravkväde combine black metal, funeral doom, and dark ambient music to create bleak, crushing elegies of sorrow and despair.

I spoke with multi-instrumentalist Ezra Nattkaos about Gravkväde's history, and the the influence of Ingmar Bergman's films on his songwriting. We also discussed how expanding into a trio affected the music on their new album, Grav|Ruin, and the benefits of working with a band over having a solo project.

My thanks to Ezra for speaking with me, and to all of you for listening.
