"To me, it's just a different kind of blues," says guitarist/vocalist Ken Baluke of his band, Sons of Otis. Formed in Toronto in the early 90's, the band's similarities to the likes of Sleep and Electric Wizard are too strong to deny - though the band actually predated the vast majority of their doom metal/stoner rock peers.

I spoke with Ken about the origins of Sons of Otis, and how the band developed their style without prior knowledge of the doom metal scene. We also spoke about the writing and recording of their latest album Isolation, and how the band found their audience overseas.

My thanks to Ken for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
