Here is the 58th installment of the Dreams of Consciousness podcast, featuring an interview with Seoul-based power violence band Mymanmike.
Mymanmike is as international as it gets: Based in South Korea but with 2 expats in the line up (guitarist/vocalist Matt is American and drummer J.P. is French, with vocalist/bassist Sunwoon rounding out the trio), the band has played over 100 shows throughout Asia, Europe, and North America. Their gig at Rumah Api, where I caught up with them, was actually their second time playing Kuala Lumpur, and only one stop on an extensive tour that took them to more cities in Malaysia than I've ever been to.
We talked how the three of them met, the role of beer in the band's formation, and the story behind their unusual name. It was a fun chat which, like the band's music, encompassed several different accents and languages.
