Abhorrent Expanse are a quartet who use their shared improvisational, jazz and classical backgrounds to create music that encompasses metal, jazz, and ambient/experimental music.
I spoke with multi-instrumentalists Brian Courage and Erik Fratzke about what brought them together, and whether they knew beforehand what the result of their first recorded session would be. We also discussed whether the mixing sessions for their first album led to a clearer idea for their second record Enter the Misanthropocene, and who their intended audience is.
