Philadelphia trio Concrete Caveman describe their raw, hell-for-leather sound as "deathpunk". Their mix of death metal, grindcore, and hardcore recalls extreme metal pioneers Deathstrike and Hellhammer, along with the with the crusty likes of Doom and Extreme Noise Terror.
I spoke with the trio of Johnny Busott (guitar, vocals), Jimmy Runzer (bass, vocals), and Sean Gale (drums) about why they record all their releases live, and whether all their songs need blastbeats. We also discussed why their latest EP War Behind Glass is benefitting Doctors Without Borders, and their belief that everyone considering a creative pursuit should "just figure it out" and "fucking do it".
My thanks again to Johnny, Jimmy, and Sean for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
