There's no ignoring the number of metal bands that have come out of San Francisco and Oakland in the last decade; it's an explosion of death, grind, and black metal that threatens to eclipse the heyday of Bay Area thrash. Contributing to this resurgence was Tankcrimes Records, who have long been the home of several bands beloved by this site - among them, Ghoul, Necrot, Deathgrave, and Cannabis Corpse.
I spoke with Tankcrimes founder Scotty Heath about how his label started with an old lady cart filled with records and buttons, as well as the logistics of running a record label in the streaming age. We also discussed how growing medical marijuana helped him get out of debt, and the upcoming Bransqueeze tour with Municipal Waste, Necrot, Ghoul, and Dead Heat.
My thanks again to Scotty for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
