Copenhagen's Terminalist coined the term "hyperthrash" to describe their black metal-tinged, science fiction-influenced music. Though the band's sound may be rooted in the speed-crazed sound of the Eighties, their focus - musical and otherwise - is very much on the future.
I spoke with vocalist/guitarist Emil Hansen about philosopher Paul Virilio's influence on his music and lyrics, before an unexpected digression pulled us into a discussion about 20th century art movements. We also discussed why global events affected the direction of the latest Terminalist album The Crisis as Condition, and how Triptykon guitarist V. Santura got involved with the production.
My thanks again to Emil for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
