London's Pupil Slicer have made big leaps from their origins as a Carcass-influenced grindcore band. Their amorphous sound utilizes blastbeats and electronic beats, stretching from shoegazing guitars and ambient elements to furious shredding.
I spoke with vocalist/guitarist Kate Davies about how Pupil Slicer went from a grindcore band with a funny name to having more mathcore, blackgaze, and post rock elements. We also discussed the sci fi concept behind their new album Blossom, and how to write an eight minute song that isn't boring.
My thanks again to Kate for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
