As heavy as a menhir and equally imponderable, the German trio Obelyskkh pulled from their stoner and noise rock backgrounds to create their own version of slow, heavy music.
I spoke with drummer Steve "The Krusher" Paradise and bassist Seb Duster about whether they consider Obelyskkh to be a "metal" band, and how paring down to a power trio affected their style. We also discussed why they decided to record their latest album The Ultimate Grace Of God live, and how they integrate noise and ambient parts into their music.
My thanks to Steve and Seb for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
