The French band Catalyst combine an extremely high level of musicianship with a love for furious speed, resulting in music that's both extreme and extremely technical. Their songs revolve around a character named "The Catalyst", whose story is told across all their releases.

I spoke with guitarist/vocalist Jules Kicka about the narrative that he created for Catalyst, and why their first EP is a blueprint for future albums. We also spoke about how developing the concept went hand in hand with writing their latest album A Different Painting For A New World, and what the conclusion of The Catalyst's story would mean for the band.

My thanks again to Jules for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
