Over the course of a Cavernlight song, expect to traverse through doom, shoegaze, noise and ambient music. As oppressive as the Wisconsin band's music is, their songs have an inherent listenability that guarantees repeated returns.

I spoke with guitarist/vocalist Scott Burns about why Cavernlight largely avoids playing live, and whether their music is "doom" without necessarily being "metal". We also discussed why their latest release As I Cast Ruin Upon the Lens That Reveals My Every Flaw is angrier than previous ones, and the importance of taking time to address one's mental health.

My thanks to Scott for speaking with me, and to all of you for listening.
