NY's Skullshitter play grindcore with a through line of psychedelia (not to mention Satanism). Expect conga drums and John Carpenter-esque keyboards to be in the band's songs in addition to blastbeats and guttural vocals.
I spoke with guitarist/vocalist Sean Walsh about how an overnight hotel shift led to Skullshitter's formation, and the role of psychedelics in shaping the band's music. We also discussed the unexpected quiet moments on the latest Skullshitter album, Goat Claw, and continuing the legacy of experimental and genre-bending NY grindcore bands.
