Based in the Bay Area, Nite make "Heavy Metal" in the unapolegetically strutting fashion of the Eighties masters - albeit coupled with raspy vocals that give their songs a "blackened" and modern edge. As founder/guitarist/vocalist Van Labrakis puts it, "The whole point was for metal to break the norms and think outside the box, not make another box for ourselves."

Van and guitarist Scott Hoffman spoke with me about how Nite sprung from a love of classic metal and guitar solos, as well as what separates their band from the retro/revival movement. We also spoke about the unexpected moments on their second album Voices of the Kronian Moon, and the fate of all the Nite songs that don't make it to an album.

My thanks to Van and Scott for speaking with me, and to all of you for listening.
