Operating out of Dayton, Ohio, Close The Hatch are the definition of quiet determinism. Flying under the radar, the band has self-released 7 albums in just under 8 years, evolving along the way from thunderous post-metal to their current atmospheric doom metal sound.
I spoke with vocalist/guitarist Stephen Barton about the history of Close The Hatch, and the reason they moved away from screaming vocals on their latest release, Modern Witchcraft. We also talked about Barton's label, Red Moth Records, and creating backing music for Youtube "explainer" videos.
My thanks to Stephen for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
