Mixtape 67 - Punčke

Here is the 67th installment of the Dreams of Consciousness podcast, featuring an interview with Lucija Ivšić, Anja Tkalec, and Goran Nježić of Croatian punk trio Punčke.

Coming from the town of Vinkovci in the Eastern part of Croatia, Punčke are quite unlike any band that's appeared on this blog. Co-founded by vocalist/guitarist Lucija Ivšić when she was still a teenager, the band mix the raw energy of punk with heavier influences like Tool and Queens of the Stone Age.

I sat down with the band before their headlining set at Rumah Api. We discussed their progression from a high school duo to an international touring act, the nature of the scene in Croatia, and their latest EP Valovi. They were also kind enough to translate some of their album titles into English for me.

My thanks to Lucija, Anja, and Goran for speaking with me, and to you for listening.
